Teen Korps Projects

 Brown Bag Ministry                                                                              St. Andrews Church, Apex                  Details: We will be making bag lunches at the church then going to Moore’s Square downtown to hand out the food. Wear appropriate clothing since we will be outside! Hot meal day. *Additional carpool driver needed. www.brownbagministry.org                    

 Food Bank of NC                                                                                   3808 Tarheel Drive,Raleigh               Details: Sorting food at the Food Bank for needy in the area. Wear closed-toed shoes & bring sweatshirt or light jacket.  Glenaire Assisted Living - Bingo & Ice Cream                           4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary                          Details: We play bingo with the residents, help bring some to the activity room & back in their wheelchairs & serve ice cream. http://www.glenaire.org/      

 Hemlock Bluffs Nature Center                                                            Kildaire Farm Rd. Cary                        Details: Assist with on-going trail maintenance and improvements. Bring work gloves and wear closed toed shoes. Dress for outdoor work. www.townofcary.org       

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 5K                    Walnut Creek Amphitheater, Raleigh                  Details: We are assisting with the event by working in the food service area for the 5K fundraiser! Several local schools and Teen Korps members are participating in the race.  http://www.jdrf.org/     

Miracle League of the Triangle  

Adams Elementary School, Cary Towne Blvd, Cary, NC (map)

Details: Miracle League enables children with special needs to play baseball and have fun! You will be helping by being a "buddy" to a team member. This includes batting, fielding & going around the bases. All volunteers or "buddies" must be trained by the ML staff so please be on time so you are able to participate. We will meet at the check in table. This shift will be buddies with high school aged players.

A consent form must be signed by your parent before you can participate - it should be downloaded from our website under Documents. Please read and be familiar with the "Miracle League Buddy Tips" also found under Documents.

 Project Linus ‘Make A Blanket Day’                                     201 Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC                       Details: Assist with annual event which will include registration, labeling, snack table and other assignments as needed. *Additional carpool driver needed. www.projectlinus.org/mabd.html

Second Chance Pet Adoptions – Cat Adoptathon                   6003 Chapel Hill Road, Raleigh                      Details: We will be assisting with the cat adoptathon at the main facility. Public is invited to visit cats that are in house and foster cats that will be brought in. Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. http://www.secondchancenc.org/                                

Society of St. Andrews Gleaning                    Meet at Christ the King Church, Walnut St, Cary                    Details: Help harvest nutritious produce from farmers' fields and orchards after the harvest. This food instead of being left behind to rot is delivered to those in need. http://www.endhunger.org
