Who We Are Today

Teen CORE of Cary

Committed * Organized * Responsible * Engaged

2014 - Present

Teen CORE is a community service group for local teens in 8th-12th grades. Through the philanthropies we serve, we aim to gain an understanding of different community needs, a sense of responsibility to assist in serving those needs, and the opportunity for our teens to develop experience and leadership skills while helping to meet some of these needs.

Our Beginning: Cary Chapter – Teen Korps

2004-2014

A Teen Korps chapter was founded in Cary in November 2004 as part of Kids Korps USA - a national non-profit youth volunteer organization that engages young people in community service. The group began doing service projects in our community in January 2005. The Cary Chapter has had 70-80 teens in grades 8 through 12. Teens develop leadership skills, plan and attend service projects under the guidance of the Chapter Leaders. The goal . . . to make a difference in our community!

In August 2014, Kids Korps USA announced that they would become a part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito County, California. This move excluded chapters from outside that geographical area and led us to the decision to continue our 10 years of Teen Korps community service as Teen CORE of Cary, a local, independent organization committed to teen service in our community.
